Oh I…Dont wanna live an Army Life~

ARMY LOHHHHH

Having enlisted for almost 2 months, Army life has been hectic, exciting, tiring and a whole bunch of words i cant think fo right now (it’s 12 midnight on a saturday night)

Met a whole bunch of wacky, crazy, awesome, lazy, smelly, funny and awesome people over this entire duration of my national service.

My seargeants are nice people, in a sense that they provide ‘tough love’. Platoon Seargeant Li Ren is like having a angsty big brother in camp, while seargeant Bo Wen is like having a senior that we can look up to. My section seargeant Wei Xun, despite how hard he tries to be fierce with us, is still a very nice person that treats us well.

The past 2 months of being in First Company has made me appreciate the many things my parents have had done for me throughtout the almost 19 years of my life, as well as provided me with the chance to be more disciplined, much more orderly, and of course, with more guts to speak out and voice out my views and concerns, as well as to improve on my interpersonal skills with other people from seemingly different (or similar) backgrounds.

Physically, I feel that I have been improving both in terms of strength and endurance, no thanks to the daily routine of running and physical training provided by the Fitness Instructors (FIs). Mentally, I feel that my ability to endure and tolerate difficulties and hardships is much better than before. Again, thanks to the many occasions of ‘tekaning’ by the platoon commanders and platoon seargeants. In addition, the army has shown me that I am capable of achieving what I once tought to be impossible (running below 12 minutes for 2.4km run as well as running for 25 minutes non-stop)

That aside, First company is very much a welfare company, for which I am grateful for. Canteen breaks and movie screenings are a great form of escape from a military lifestyle, while long breaks for personal admin time provides me with the chance to catch up on civilian life with my friends as well as to socialise with bunkmates from other platoons. (I mean seriously, how often do you get 2-3hrs worth of admin time?)

Hence, I shall end this post with a big shout-out to my buddy Clifford, my crazy bunch of bunkmates, my section seargeant, the FIs as well as the commanders from 1st COY working to help bring First company to greater heights.

A lvls

Today was result day, so I couldnt really sleep well last night.

Was nervous the entire morning waiting to go to school to collect my results, there was this adrenaline rush the entire time. Then right until the moment my name flashed on the screen in the hall, i was speechless. Or shocked. Perhaps.

Results were surprising, got better grades than i had anticipated it to be, so I’ll be going with my sec sch friends to check out SUTD’s open house at their dover campus tmr.
